Congratulations on Second Place in Med Games 2013!

Dancers of Keck got wild with a mixture of hip-hop, Bhangra, and belly dancing in their performance at this year's Med Games!  Joined in competition by talented dancers from UCLA School of Medicine and the Western University of Health Sciences, we placed 2nd and showed off our Trojan pride!  Great job everyone!

Member Bio: Jennifer Sakioka, Class of 2017

Jennifer Sakioka, Class of 2017

Jennifer has spent the last 12 years of her life training in many different modalities of dance.  Starting out with Huggy Ford at HBP Dance Extreme in southern California, she trained in hiphop, jazz, tap, and musical theater throughout high school.  When she left California to go to college at Princeton University, she began her belly dance training (the Suhaila Salimpour method) with Kim Leary of the Drum and Dance Learning Center.  From 2006-2008, Jennifer was the President and the Artistic Director of Princeton University’s belly dance troupe, Raks Odalisque. When she moved to Northern California in 2010, Jennifer studied with Suhaila at her studio in El Cerrito, got her Level I certification, and was asked to be a part of the repertory ensemble.  Due to her participation in post-bac, she could only dance full time for 6 months.  After that she moved onto aerial circus arts, pole dancing, and teaching yoga and belly dance at the YMCA in San Francisco.

Member Bio: Cory A. Johnson, Class of 2017

Cory A. Johnson

Cory began dancing in college with the Harvard Expressions Dance Company (EDC). After two and half years as a company dancer, he joined EDC’s traveling subgroup EXP and subsequently became an artistic director of the company. After college, he danced in New York City at Broadway Dance Center while pursuing a public service fellowship. He enjoys incorporating hip hop into dance themes -- e.g. Alice in Wonderland & 1920s Jazz style -- and integrating hip hop with other dance styles. He loves working with inexperienced dancers and believes that everyone has rhythm; they just have to find it!
